WHAT IS RELAY FOR LIFE (RFL)?
Relay for Life (RFL) is a global fundraising initiative that brings communities together to support the fight against cancer.
Originating from a 24-hour relay event, RFL involves teams of participants who take turns walking or running around a track or path.
The event symbolizes the ongoing battle against cancer, with participants celebrating survivors, remembering those lost to the disease, and raising funds for research, education, and patient support.
Typically, RFL events feature various activities, entertainment, and ceremonies, including the poignant luminaria ceremony where candles are lit in memory of loved ones.
The collaborative spirit of RFL fosters a sense of unity and hope, empowering communities to take collective action against cancer.
Through these events, participants not only contribute to the financial support of cancer-related causes but also raise awareness and provide emotional support to those affected by cancer.
