It was a big challenge to write this book since elk are very complex, are incredibly adaptable, and have a keen ability to learn. Furthermore, elk are a species which are deemed by biologists to exhibit a “high degree of individual behavior plasticity”. This makes it especially difficult to understand the fall transitional patterns of elk since elk are often not going to be found in the best habitat.
